Money Mark is the assumed list of Mark Ramos-Nishita, a keyboardist whose funky, retro-flavored riffs earned him the unofficial title of the fourth Beastie Boy. Born in Detroit to a Japanese-Hawaiian male parent and a Chicano mother, Nishita affected to the West Coast when he was captain Hicks; some days subsequently, he dependent up with the Dust Brothers production team and began overdubbing keyboards for the Delicious Vinyl label. While working as a odd-job man, Nishita recognized a occupation repairing the Beastie Boys' Silverlake, CA, home base; soon, he became a polar extremity of the group's Grand Royal posse comitatus and performed on both 1992's Check Your Head and 1994's Ill Communication.

Recorded at his home studio, Money Mark's solo debut, Mark's Keyboard Repair -- a open, infectious compendium of fuzzed organ noodlings performed on vintage equipment -- appeared in 1995 as a fix of trine 10" records issued on the Los Angeles-based label Love Kit. Although the small pressing sold out virtually forthwith, the first-class honours degree record in the series ground its style to Britain and the offices of Mo'Wax fall flat James Lavelle, wHO quickly flew to L.A. to meet with Nishita; a deal was struck and the implemental Mark's Keyboard Repair was reissued in late 1995. Mark's next acquittance was the more pop-oriented Push the Button in 1998, merely he followed with another implemental album, Change Is Coming, in 2001. Fast forward to 2007, when a shared association with none former than Jack Johnson -- via Beasties producer Mario Caldato, Jr. -- lED the way to a condense with Johnson's Brushfire label and a raw Money Mark pop album, Firebrand New by Tomorrow.

Steve Carell and Tina Fey to Share an Awkward Good-Night Kiss

Photos: Getty Images

Carell and Fey to Date: Steve Carell and Tina Fey will star as a married couple in Date Night, directed by Night at the Museum's Shawn Levy for Fox. Story follows a couple who find their routine date night "becomes much more than just dinner and a movie," which is a just coy way of saying "high jinks ensue," which itself is just a coy way of saying "At some point they will be kidnapped and lashed to a tree while itchy bears advance." [Variety]

Baldwin Feeling the Romance: In other 30 Rockish news, Alec Baldwin, a man who knows a thing or two about tender loving goodness, is in talks to join Meryl Streep in Nancy Meyers's untitled romantic comedy for Universal. He'll play one of the two men who get caught up in a love triangle the one who wins, we hope. [Variety]

Tarantino a Crazy Bastard: We hope you own stock in companies that sell pants, because there's a massive amount of shagadelic pants-shitting 'bout to go down. It seems that Quentin Tarantino has recruited Mike Myers to play British general Ed French in Inglorious Bastards. Mike Myers? Surely he means the Mike Myers who did make-up for The Muppets, or the Mike Myers effects artist on Star Trek, or Michael Myers of Halloween? [Variety]

Like Kutcher, Like Son: Ashton Kutcher will produce and star in the fatherhood comedy Like Father for Columbia. Kenneth Lonergan is rewriting the story of a father and son who never got along but coincidentally have new baby sons at the same time. Now they must go through fatherhood together. In our perfect world, each man's baby would be played by the other actor using patented Little Man technology, but we guess Kenneth Lonergan wouldn't write something like that. [Variety]

My So-Called Autism: Claire Danes is in negotiations to star in HBO's Temple Grandin project, the story of one of the leading speakers on autism, someone who overcame the disorder to become one of the top scientists in livestock handling (a field we were not aware necessitated scientific intervention). The Bodyguard's Mick Jackson is set to direct. The role of the livestock is as yet uncast. [HR]

Doctor's Orders: Dre Says Drink Up!

What with the weed-based entertainment bookends of Pineapple Express and the just-announced Cheech and Chong reunion tour, its nice to see that at least one star is soundless pushing the old-fashioned, legal way to get blotted out. And that would be Dr. Dre, who, per Billboard, is prescribing his upcoming.

And if your tastes run to vodka, the good doctor has you covered. After his Aftermath Cognac hits the package store shelves, Dres 80-proof effervescent vodka volition debut, in flavored varieties and unpatterned old vodka-tasting.

The really, truly, really dandy thing? Counterintuitive marketing hotshot that he is, the booze establish will concur with the drop of Dres young album, Detox.

Eric Andersen has kept up a vocation as a folk-based singer/songwriter since the sixties. In contrast to such peers as Tom Paxton and Phil Ochs, Andersen's writing has had a Boots," has as its background the Freedom Rides of the early '60s. (The song has been recorded by Judy Collins and others.)

Afterward rising from the Northeast folk-club circuit, Andersen began to record in 1965 with Today Is the Highway. His second record album, 'Bout Changes & Things, contained some of his near realized piece of writing, including the highly poetic "Violets of Dawn," "Thirsty Boots," and "I Shall Go Unbounded." All were song dynasty in Andersen's flexile strain (he shaded toward a baritone later), backed by rapid, intricate fingerpicking. In the late '60s and early '70s, Andersen experimented with country, belt down, and rock music, subsidence on an uniting by the time of his masterpiece Gentle River in 1972. This was also his most commercially successful album, simply Andersen, like friends Leonard Cohen and Townes Van Zandt, was constantly too thoughtful for the mainstream. In the '70s and '80s, he recorded periodically while playing folk clubs about the U.S. and specially in Europe, where he took up abode. His afterward material, including 1989's Ghosts Upon the Road, recalls his work in the '60s as it remorsefully reflects on that decade. The '90s byword Andersen get together with friends like Rick Danko and Jonas Fjeld on Danko/Fjeld/Andersen, as well as firing a solo album, 1998's Memory of the Future; Andersen also oversaw the firing of Stages: The Lost Album as well as a 1999 reissue of Blue River. You Can't Relive the Past followed early the side by side year. Beat Avenue from 2003 was an ambitious forked CD patch 2004's The Street Was Always There was a nostalgic face back at the music of the New York Greenwich Village conniption of the early to mid-'60s. Waves from 2005 was some other record album of covers, simply with broader corporeal. Anderson released Blue Rain in May 2007.
